Beyond The Harm: Uncovering Bullying’s Hidden Benefits

Teenage girl victim of bullying

Hey there, readers! It’s Liv, and I’m back with another blog post. This time, I want to talk about a controversial topic that many of us have experienced in some way or another: bullying. It’s a harsh reality that we all wish didn’t exist, but have you ever stopped to consider that maybe, there are some benefits to it? In this post, I want to explore the unexpected advantages that can come from being bullied or witnessing bullying firsthand. Before we start, I just want to make it clear that I am not condoning bullying in any way possible, I am talking about mild bullying. Mockery, mild insults, just bland annoying statements that your fellow classmate spurts for the simple reason to annoy you because it brings them personal gratification, which is pretty messed up. So sit tight and let’s dive in!

As many of you already know, bullying can take many forms, from physical violence, to verbal abuse and cyberbullying. It’s a serious issue that can have long-lasting effects on a person’s mental health. Although not everybody has the guts to stand up for themselves, no matter how much they want to, it always gives them something on the other hand. It could be motivation to do something to prove their bullies wrong, or sometimes, even worse, become the bully themselves. In that case, they’re trying to prove to themselves that they won that very battle.

And for for all of my teensters out there getting annoyed on the daily, let me tell you this… [ahem] Generally, when somebody is constantly bullying you for your physical appearance, your grades, or anything, honestly… Where did they get that attitude from? Were they just born that way? Did they take special courses? I don’t think so… If you look at the picture I found below, you’ll know exactly what I mean. From my experience, every single person that has ever bothered me, a little bit or constantly, has a problem in their personal life. It could be a divorce between their parents, a lack of attention and affection, financial problems, or simply their parents treat them the exact same way that they treat you! Crazy, right? Speaking of… I read a quote the other day and it goes like this: ”A bodybuilder won’t judge you for working out- a millionnaire won’t judge you for starting a business – a football player won’t judge you for playing ball. It’s always the low-life losers who have something to say .” Now I’m not sure who wrote that quote but I’ll leave you at that.

Anyways, just to remind you… One of the biggest values in life is respect. And respect goes both ways. So if you ever think of harassing someone just for the way they look, or because you’re too insecure about yourself… You’re projecting. 🤷‍♀️
